Jewellery Care

My pieces are made in solid sterling silver or gold and enamelled copper with gemstones. These materials are durable, but should be treated with care to make sure they last as long as possible.

Jewellery should be removed before swimming, bathing, and doing strenuous activity like yard work or working out. Enamelled pieces have a thin layer of glass on the surface, so they are particularly susceptible to chips or cracks if they take any impact or get bent. Pieces should be stored separately to avoid them wearing on each other.

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time. Clean jewellery with soap and water. You can use a jewellery polishing cloth on metal, but avoid dip cleaners or chemicals on enamel. Similarly, some lotions or perfumes can damage enamel surfaces. Never put enamel pieces in and ultrasonic cleaner.

Sometimes things happen. I am happy to offer repairs for free if any damage is caused by a problem on my end. Damage due to regular wear and tear or an accident can be repaired for a fee. Feel free to get in touch with me if you notice any issues.

The gemstones I use in my work are all reclaimed from old jewellery that was melted down for the metal, so sometimes I have many and sometimes I only have one available. Pearls and softer gems (like opals and emeralds) are more prone to wear and tear. If a stone needs replacing, I will do my best to find a good match.
